About the Artist
 
Houston-based contemporary fine artist AVM Hawkins specializes in custom-created, large scale abstract paintings. Born and raised in New Orleans, AVM received a B.A. in Business Administration from the University of Houston and a J.D. from the Thurgood Marshall School of Law. Through her grueling law school years, AVM discovered art as a compelling juxtaposition and productive release from academic pressure. After practicing real estate and probate law for six years, AVM transitioned to working as an artist full time. AVM’s work has been shown in solo exhibitions at Mid Main Gallery and John Palmer Art Gallery in Houston. Deploying vibrant colors and intricately detailed lines and shapes, AVM created an image for Light that illuminates its wearer and captivates the viewer at close range and at a distance.
